Before getting into this story,
I noticed today that ICE Agent Jaime Zapata has a page dedicated to his story on
Wikipedia. Border Patrol Agent and former U.S. Marine Brian Terry does not.
To find Terry, you must log-on
to a Wikipedia page titled “ATF Gun Walking Scandal.” I believe I have seen a
Brian Terry Wiki page in the past. Have you? If so, he has been disappeared
again.
The family of Jaime Zapata has
filed a wrongful death suit against “the Justice Dept. and other federal
agencies” for the death of Zapata by a gun the ATF illegally allowed into
Mexico. How much the family is suing for is not mentioned in Sharyl Attkisson’s story at CBS News.
The family of Brian Terry filed a $25 Million wrongful death
suit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) and Lone Wolf
Trading Company, which they allege sold “hundreds of weapons” to straw
purchasers” and “realized hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits” from
doing so. Perhaps a suit against the DOJ will be forthcoming from the Terry
family.
Brian Terry – Jaime
Zapata
Jaime Zapata died on February
15, 2011 at the age of 32 after being shot dead by Mexico’s vicious Los Zetas
cartel in San Luis Potosi, Mexico where he was on duty as an Immigration and
Customs Enforcement Special Agent (ICE, a Homeland Security agency). The gun
used was smuggled into Mexico from Dallas, Texas by a straw purchaser (someone
who buys or provides a service on behalf of another person who cannot gain the
item or service himself/herself) whom the ATF was well aware of. In other words,
the AFT knew the straw purchaser, how he worked, and left him on the
streets. Straw purchasers are prohibited by U.S. Law. It is unknown
whether Jaime Zapata’s death is directly linked to Operation Fast and Furious
but...
A Texas man was both arrested
and sentenced, and Zapata’s family didn’t have the courtesy of a notice.
Understand that: the case was so far along that, at the time the Zapata family
learned of a second gun, the arrest, conviction and sentencing of Manuel Barba
had already already taken place. Obviously, no Victim Impact statement
was given.
Senator Charles Grassley and
Rep. Darrell Issa notified the DOJ, via letter, that they knew that the
BATF:
Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry
died on December 14, 2010 at the age of 40 while patrolling 11 miles from the
border near Santa Cruz, Arizona. Those in power in Border Security had
armed Terry with only a gun firing beanbags, while Terry faced an AK-47
sent south of the border by his own government. He was shot in the back. When
the news broke of Brian Terry’s death, Agent John Dodson came forward and
revealed how he had been told to look the other way when guns illegally left
Arizona for south of the border. He said his superiors told him “it never
happened.” This was Dodson’s reply:
I’m boots on the ground in
Phoenix, telling you we’ve been doing it every day since I’ve been here,” he
said. “Here I am. Tell me I didn’t do the things that I did. Tell me you didn’t
order me to do the things I did. Tell me it didn’t happen. Now you have a name
on it. You have a face to put with it. Here I am. Someone now, tell me it didn’t
happen.”
