Word from the Spectator is that Princess Pelosi is making plans to visit...ready for this???
Last Tuesday, over 130 people gathered at the Capitol to voice their opposition to H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007. They represent highly motivated U.S. clergy that are responding to a national crisis against religious liberty. These leaders, mostly African-American pastors, had received the call to come to Washington in five days or less. In last week’s commentary, Massacre of the Pulpit, I outlined the major reason for the urgent trip to Washington.
Letter to Congress from various members of the clergy addressing HR 1592:
“…We preface our objections by stating that we stand united against violence targeted at homosexual citizens as we do against all human beings. The love of God would allow us to take no other position. However, we are unaware of any other federal statute which recognizes sexual orientation as a “protected class” of citizens….
“Granting protected class status to homosexuals is not necessary. We believe Congress may combat violence without expanding the protected class status to homosexuals. Indeed, Congress may simply grant additional funding to local governmental units to combat physical violence against all its citizens. This would, indeed, address the concern of homosexual assaults as well.
“Citizens in urban areas throughout the United States grapple with constant violence. The language of H.R. 1592 claims ‘the incidence of violence motivated by the actual or perceived…sexual orientation, and gender identity…poses a serious national problem.’ …We, as Pastors who service many urban dwelling congregants, believe Congress should recognize that violence against all persons in our communities would be at least as worthy of funding and fast-track consideration. The $5,000,000 earmarked for H.R. 1592 should be significantly increased and earmarked to target overall violent crimes.
“The homosexual community intends to use this legislation as a springboard to further its agenda. Lesbian and Gay websites trumpet this legislation as a “tactical” first step for promoting lesbian/gay issues, in order to make other pro-homosexual issues more palatable to the Congress and the society at large. Homosexual activists view this bill as a tactical victory for their agenda, not merely protection from crime.
“We further challenge this proposed legislation on the basis that it does not assure our free speech rights to speak out against homosexuality as a sin. Although it may appear that this legislation does not implicate free speech issues, we are well aware that laws may be interpreted otherwise by the courts. In Plessy v. Ferguson, the 14th Amendment was interpreted to permit segregated facilities. It took 58 years, from 1896 to 1954, for the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn that ‘separate but equal’ doctrine. As Pastors, we are concerned about the potential of being charged with a crime as the result of actions of someone who may have attended our church or heard our sermons. We do not preach hate, but love and repentance… the bill could curtail our speech.
“We are requesting that Congress carefully consider this legislation with the benefit of input from the electorate. We are calling for hearings to further express our dire concerns regarding H.R. 1592. Ultimately, we encourage Congress to vote no.”
From Harry R Jackson, Jr.
I do not support violence against any person, homosexual or heterosexual. However, I am against this hate crime bill. This bill was put on a fast track for approval in about one month, and grants money to fight hate crime. We deal with too much violence in many areas. Why wouldn’t my political leaders think to fast track a bill to stop all violence, with federal grants? Our local law enforcement needs money to fight all types of crime, not only hate crimes.
Also, this bill would be the first time (I am aware of) that federal law will recognize homosexuality as a protected class of citizens. I do not think homosexuals should be beaten, my concern is that freedom of speech and freedom of religion will be permanently damaged in our nation. I want you to vote no on HR 1592 and S.1105.”

I started this yesterday, and then work got in the way. then I read Oliver North's op-ed piece which was just emailed to me. Now I'm gonna post this.
If the Democrats have their way, the chances are good that we'll be "taking it to the streets".
I don't mean we'll be marching with signs, or countering the moonbats. I mean we'll be fighting the islamist extremists here, on our ground, in our streets.
It might not happen the first year after all the troops leave Iraq, but most certainly within two years after that.
We'll become Israel.
The first few attacks will be written off as random attacks from lone crazies. Any connection to religious extremism will be played down. Then the real bombings will commence. Buildings, subways, bridges, tunnels, shopping malls. Then schools. There won't be any demands. There won't be any warnings.
Just dead Americans.
The only hostages will be the rest of the citizenry, living in constant fear that the next bomber, the next remotely-denotated device will be in THEIR neighborhood, or THEIR mall.
Disclaimer - The above is the express opinion of a God fearin, USA lovin, military supportin, gun totin, conservative leanin, camo wearin, country listenin, nascar watchin, pickup truck drivin, blue collar, monogamous, heterosexual, former marine, redneck, male. No one says you have to agree.

I think the main thing to focus on in this particular incident is the failure of the system to address obvious symptoms. I am not a proponent of treating the symptom instead of the disease, but the blatant dismissal of an obvious problem is appalling.
As I understand it, there was a history of anti-social and depressive behavior dating back to high school. In addition, there was more than one restraining order and mandatory counseling ordered by VT. The problem is no one cared that he didn’t show up. You cannot blame society, the media, or video games for this one, it all falls back to the inadequate mental health systems we have in America. Would this have prevented this tragedy? Maybe, maybe not, but at least a professional would have been seeing the signs of a coming breakdown in a weekly session.
To be entirely honest I am surprised someone did not report the guns sooner. At W&M, as at any state school, students are not allowed to keep guns on campus. I would have if I had been allowed to, though I probably would not have carried it to class.
With all the videos he had made I am blown away that no one ever saw the weapons. I find it deplorable the media has turned this into an arms issue because it is not. After all, he didn’t use assault weapons and sawed-off shotguns, he was just using pistols.
It is an issue of many institutions dropping the ball on numerous fronts and a person sadly slipping through the cracks till he hit the bottom. He wasn’t insane, insane people don’t buy a gun 4 months before they shoot someone, insane people jump you bare handed and try to chew your arm off. I am not trying to make light of the tragedy but the guy was just troubled and no one cared enough to help.

When the Seante Majority Leader stood up and said "the Iraq War is lost", he may have thought he was being erudite and statesman-like. But Ried is no statesman. He's a liberal. He has a liberal agenda. In short, he's a moonbat. Just like all the moonbats we see on the streets with their "Impeach Bush"..."Bush is a War Criminal" signs.
Now we have the brother moonbats in the Senate circling the wagons, and telling us we have to take Reid's statement "in context"
OK Brother Moonbats, we'll look at the "context".
Repeatedly, Ried has threatened to cut off funding for the troops if the President doesn't end the war. They would make our men and women standing in harm's way suffer because of their hatred for our President...
MY SOLDIERS, SAILORS AIRMEN and MARINES.
There's your context.
The fact is, the liberal Moonbats in Congress don't like the President. They'll take any, every, and all opportunities presented, to make the CiC look bad, stupid, or incompetent. They stay up nights working on ways to further that agenda.
Thank you America...You really screwed the pooch last November.

For the past few days, the email circle I participate in has been kicking the idea of a draft around. While I can understand the sentiments expressed and the mindset that produced those sentiments, I have to say they are wrong. I say that with the deepest respect and admiration for these men, because every one of them has served this country, and continues to serve in some way, with honor and dedication. They are true Patriots, IMAO.
BUT!!! A draft is not the way to instill patriotism in young people today. It didn't instill patriotism, ie, a sense of national pride, in the 60's and 70's and it won't do it now.
What it will do is create an additional class of anti-war, anti-military types and put the men and women who really are our best and brightest, in harm's way.
What needs to happen right now, today, this minute, is this:
The politicians need to STFU, and let the military do the job it was trained to do, without ROE that handcuff our soldiers, and cause them to second guess any action taken in a free-fire zone under combat conditions.
The enemy have no ROE. We should do battle with them using their rules.
Disclamer: The above is the express opinion of a God-fearing, America loving, whiskey drinking, tobacco smoking, gun-toting, conservative, heterosexual, male former Marine. No one says you have to agree.

Well, the truth is really out now.
Silky Pony, aka the Breck Girl, has laid out his plan for defeat in Iraq and his plan to negotiate our surrender to the islamist extremist state sponsors of terrorism.
The former North Carolina senator, who was John Kerry's (who served in Viet Nam BTW), running mate in the 2004 presidential election, said he would immediately withdraw 40,000 to 50,000 of the 145,000 troops in Iraq and continue with a phased withdrawal over the next year. He also said he would talk with Iran, Syria and other Middle East countries about how to stabilize Iraq.
So, in other words, Silky Pony would immediately surrender upon taking the oath of office.
Whew, I'm glad we found out before the election.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated..
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns.
The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'.
Without them, we are 'subjects'.
If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.

The news report came about mid-week. Maybe you saw it. The Associated Press reported that terrorists in Iraq have passed an unthinkable threshold:
They used two children to disguise a car bomb. The car was waved through a checkpoint by American soldiers who could not imagine that children would be in a car filled with explosives. When the terrorists got to their target, they got out of the car and ran. They left the children behind in the car, and then blew it up. There is a word for people who put children in a car to be blown up. The word is evil.
It's Important That We Say It: Our Enemies Are Evil
When I travel around the country speaking to groups of Americans, I often tell the story of a couple arrested last year in Great Britain. They were arrested on the suspicion that they were going to use their eight-month-old baby to smuggle a bomb onto an airplane. They were apparently going to disguise the bomb as baby food. And they were perfectly happy to kill their baby just as long as they killed some Americans in the process. There is a word for people like this. The word is evil. It's important that we say this out loud and that we render this moral judgment. Because if we fail to understand that our enemy is evil, we have failed to understand what we are fighting. We are not used to adversaries who will kill young children -- even their own children -- just to get a chance to kill us. But we had better get used to it, because this is the level of seriousness in the threat we face --this is the level of its ferocity. And yet I wonder if some of us are still not prepared to recognize and confront the evil of our enemies.
Suicidal Inability to Come to Grips With Evil
I grew very worried last week watching America's elite, who seem to be literally afraid to face the fact that we are at war. Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the leading captured terrorist from al Qaeda, offered a startling confession.
He was almost certainly embellishing what he had done, but still, he told a chilling tale. He spoke unapologetically of the terrorist acts he had committed and those he had wished to commit. He took responsibility for killing almost 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001. He said he had cut off a reporter's head, held it in his hand, and had his picture taken with it.
And what was the reaction of two United States senators? They were worried that we had mistreated Khalid Sheik Mohammed in captivity. They didn't walk out of the room and say this is a frightening example of how serious our enemies are.
They worried that we were dealing incorrectly with the man who had just finished saying how much he wanted to slaughter us. This is a suicidal inability to come to grips with evil.
History Repeating Itself
It reminds me of something the great historian William Manchester once said of the elites in the years leading up to World War II. It was the spring of 1939, after the Munich agreement had failed, after Hitler had absorbed the rest of Czechoslovakia, and after it was obvious that all the deals the democracies had made with Nazi Germany -- all the appeasement -- had failed.
As Europe moved toward war, Winston Churchill tried to create a Ministry of Supply in Great Britain for the terrible war he knew was coming. The public supported him and even the newspapers supported him. But the people Manchester called "the men of Munich" -- the elite, those who could not bring themselves to believe that Hitler was evil, that he meant what he said -- blocked Churchill at every turn. They would rather risk defeat than admit that they had been wrong.
Today's Men and Women of Munich
Today, we have the Men and Women of Munich. Just as before, these are elites who are afraid to face evil, afraid to recognize what our enemies are doing, and afraid to put partisanship aside and put America first so we can join together to defeat those who would destroy us. The Men and Women of Munich have just scored a victory in Congress. They passed a bill that they have been enthusiastically telling their leftwing allies is designed to end the war in Iraq by crippling the military's ability to achieve victory. Think about what that means. They haven't stood up courageously to vote to cut off funding for the war and take responsibility. No, they have avoided responsibility and sent the President a bill that is designed to fail and leave young Americans in uniform to pay the price.
This Is Not Just America's Problem
This inability to recognize the evil of our enemy isn't just in our government. Remember the story I told you, about the terrorists who used two children to disguise a car bomb in Iraq? Do you know how the editors at the Associated Press chose to headline that story? Not "Terrorists Slaughter Children, Save Themselves." Incredibly, the headline was "U.S. Destroys Bomb Factory in Iraq." Talk about burying the lead. And another news report surfaced this week displaying how Western society is failing to confront the true nature of our enemies because of the insane demands of political correctness. In Germany, a judge refused to grant a Moroccan-born German woman a divorce on the grounds that the Koran allows husbands to beat their wives. The woman had filed for divorce because her husband regularly beat her and had threatened to kill her. She had police reports to back her up.
But the judge set aside the German constitution in favor of "respecting" religious fanaticism. As for what it means for the future of Germany -- and Western civilization for that matter -- one German elected official put it best:
"When the Koran takes precedence over basic German law, than I can only say:
Never Underestimate the Determination of Your Fellow Americans
We are living in serious times -- a time when all of us need to think of the needs of our country and its future rather than our own personal or party interest. And despite the somber tone of my message to you today, I'm hopeful about our future. In the years before World War II, the people of Great Britain and America eventually saw what the elites refused to see.
They saw their futures, their families' futures, and the great civilization they had built threatened. And so they acted to defend them. Everywhere I travel across this country I am approached by those of you who have this same understanding.
You're not out to score cheap political points. You're not blinded by political correctness. You're demanding that your families and your nation be defended. You're demanding something more serious and more substantive from your leaders. And if I know you, I have a feeling you're going to get it.

Here it is, courtesy of FreeRepublic. A website that gives you the opportunity to see Senator Thompson's voting record in one place.
My only issue, so far, is his support of the McCain-Feingold Bill.
A stupid piece of legislation that does nothing but limit free speech.
Many on the right remain angry he supported the campaign finance law sponsored by his friend John McCain. “There are problems with people giving politicians large sums of money and then asking them to pass legislation,” Mr. Thompson says. Still, he notes he proposed the amendment to raise the $1,000 per person “hard money” federal contribution limit.
Conceding that McCain-Feingold hasn’t worked as intended, and is being riddled with new loopholes, he throws his hands open in exasperation. “I’m not prepared to go there yet, but I wonder if we shouldn’t just take off the limits and have full disclosure with harsh penalties for not reporting everything on the Internet immediately.”
That last statement is what I want to hear. Unlimited donations, full and immediate disclosure. Jail time for violations. The technology is available.

Leftist nutjobs believe WTC 7 was brought down by explosives placed inside the building. This is patently absurd. Fire fueled by the diesel tanks for the back-up generators is what caused WTC 7 to collapse.
But here's the rub...leftist whackos believe fervrently that "BushCo" MIHOP ("made it happen on purpose") to justify a war with Iraq. They believe this as passionately as I believe that the klintoons caused the Oklahoma City bombing and blamed it on right wing talk radio.
There is ample evidence that people of Middle Eastern appearence were in OKC that morning. The FBI ignored it. Jayna Davis has written a book, titled The Third Terrorist. Evidence was ignored, people were dismissed as nutjobs or unreliable.
Retired Air Force General Benton Partin, an explosives expert, and a man of impeccable credentials, with a top-level security clearence, wrote a letter pleading with Congress to seal off the area, treat it as a crime scene, and open an investigation into the bombing. He was ignored. The debris from the Murrah Building was hauled away, buried in a landfill and put in "lockdown". No one can get to it, and the footprint of the building was filled in and covered over.
The fact is, both sides will believe the worst of the other side. Each side believes the other side will stoop to anything to further a political agenda. With the leftists, we KNOW they will lie to further their agenda. It's documented. Karl Marx states in the Communist Manifesto that it is OK to lie to further the socialist agenda. We see it every time we stand up against these ashats on the street, or read one of their rants on a lefist website or one of their "post and run" on a conservative website.
We'll never rally know who or what caused the OKC bombing. (Well, eventually we'll know, but it will be too late to do anything about it).
All that is hidden will be made known
I know one thing, right now, for sure: an airplane loaded with fuel, piloted by Middle Eastern terrorists, was flown into each of the WTC Towers. I saw it, my wife saw it, and so did about 20 million other people, AS IT HAPPENED. IN REAL TIME.
That's not guessing, its not conjecture, its a FACT. Those buildings fell as a result of that. That's a FACT. Fuel oil burns. That's a FACT. It burns hot enough to melt steel. That's a FACT.
Rosie O'Donnell is a whacked-out leftist nutjob who needs to STFU.
THAT'S A FACT!!!!!!!!!
